Hello parents, I'm Rachel. I am a 33 year old female originally from Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. Whilst living in Rarotonga, Cook Islands, I was teaching at a primary school. I am a Primary and Early Secondary trained teacher and have worked in education in schools for 7 years. Being a teacher we all tend to call the class we teach "our kids" as that is the level of care we have for our students in my opinion. Outside of working in education, I also have a passion and skills in ecology and conservation. I have worked in conservation jobs where my role involved managing pest species, monitoring native species, and having to work in remote areas in the NZ bush. I am an easy going and fun loving person who loves to help children explore their world and their passions. I would happily engage with learning experiences while babysitting in a fun and engaging way if this was something that you requested. In terms of childcare outside of teaching, I have grown up with a large family of many cousins where I am one of the oldest. I babysat throughout my teenage years into adulthood, and most recently have been a part-time carer for my sister who has twins who are now toddlers. I feel comfortable around infants, babies, toddlers, and children of all ages and always would uphold your values and expectations, no matter if they were different to my own. I understand the importance of being able to be trusted to meet the requests and expectations a parent has for their child. I would love to meet you and your child if you feel like I would be a good match for your family.
