Hello! My name is Jess and I’m a qualified Early Childhood Care and Education Educator. I completed my degrees back home in Ireland and I am in the process of getting them transferred to the Australian versions. I also have my WWCC, a police check and my Australian First Aid. I have worked in childcare for 4+ years, minding children from the ages of 9 months to 6 years old. I have also done some babysitting, mostly for family, since the age of 14 as I have many young cousins. We have had Jess look after our 8 month old twin girls a few times now and she has been absolutely amazing!
We’ve had a mix of care settings - sometimes we’ve been around the house; sometimes in and out; others we’ve been gone for long stretches - and Jess has seemed fully comfortable and confident in all cases. The girls took to Jess immediately and she was able to manage the two of them easily, often having them both on her lap reading a story or comforting one while playing with the other - she’s worked in daycare settings with a 4:1 ratio and it definitely shows when it comes to ability to handle two babies at the same time.
In terms of logistics, Jess was great at communicating with us, very diligently checking and sticking to the girls’ feeding and sleeping schedules and giving us regular updates throughout the day/night when we were out. She also really kindly stayed an extra hour when we were running later than expected, and she even tidied the house and folded the laundry after the girls were asleep.
Sadly we are only visiting Sydney for a few weeks or Jess would absolutely become our regular babysitter - we’ve recommended her to all our friends :)
